Move It On Over

Time for a little audience participation methinks. The topic is music. Specifically, what gets you going?

I comment from time to time to the boyfriend of different songs I'd put on a make-out tape(which instantly defines my age). But since my folks occassionally read this blog I'm going to ask for music that inspires you to move. Which is different from music that moves you. Beethoven moves me, blues makes me want to bake for some reason, 1970s Supertramp makes me feel sexy, but it is electronica and disco that makes me want to move. Get up and boogie, so to speak. Although Supertramp's Cannonball makes me want to exercise.

So, what gets you moving?

Probably (and I hate to admit it) 80's music because that's when I was in college. Oh, and then there is rap music! I get up and move AWAY from it...

Ok, so I'm part of the crowd here. 80's music. That was the time when my little music brain was most impressionable...from 7th grade until college graduation. Rock on.

Linda, I have to admit to liking the early rap music (late 70s, early 80s).
I once heard someone somewhere say that we remember music from the year we were 23 more fondly than any other year. Not sure where this guy got his data, but I have to admit that I was 23 in 1986 and love music from that year...Pet Shop Boys, Simply Red, Peter Gabriel...

I remember a while back when I used to wear a suit and tie to work and stopping at a red traffic light. I had a moment to remove a snoop dogg CD that my son had left in the car the day before. In went Motorhead's Greatest Hits...and the volume went up to 11. Well the guy in the car beside me did a double take as I had the windows down since it was a warm summer day. A guy in a suit and tie listening to metal at thundering volume at 7:30 am. What gives? To this day, I always play heavy metal in the car on the way to work since it wakes me up, and yes, it is one of the few bastions of NON conformity remaining for the plus 40 types like me. To this day, metal still wakes me up, but I sill listen to whatever sets the mood. For example, if you want a romatic evening, anything by Bryan Ferry or Roxy Music will do the trick. Cheers y'all.

Steve,
You are just a big mushmellow kind of guy. Even metalheads like love...

You remember the scene in Love Actually when Hugh Grant as PM leaps down the stairs? That song [The Pointer Sisters - Jump (For My Love)] gets me dancing and dreaming every time...of course, having the soundtrack and the DVD is quite obsessional but that's me!
